Let’s name it for what it is. She’s a self serving soulless leader looking for the spotlight and to be adjacent to the wealthy. She will do or say anything to stay there.
Let’s also be clear that this woman, the party she leads and the hangers on she attracts are detrimental to the well being of this province, its institutions, its environment, its people and its future.

Regarding political violence, Smith’s legislation encourages that violence. Her silence on specific matters endorses violence. One can “advocate” in many ways, but there is no question in my mind that in fact she creates the conditions for political violence to take place. She might have cleverly inverted the pattern, but it’s still present.
Thank you. This kind of precision is important. In This Setting. Clarifying how close Smith is to fully qualifying as a facist (according to a technical definition) shocked me this morning. I've seen all the elements but I suppose I've wanted to avoid putting Canadian and fascist in the same sentence. I hope Albertans are also shocked that a word, often used simply as an insult, means much more and does apply to their government.
While I think the notion of "Authoritarian Libertarian" is potentially useful in the future study of this time, I am very much on the page of "right now, differentiating that term from fascist is a case of distinction without a difference". Average people barely know what "fascist" means these days.
Simply spouting libertarian flavoured soundbites does not a libertarian make. Smith's actions speak a very different language, IMO.
So if Danielle Smith is close enough to being a fascist that Albertans “should be very worried,” then she is a fascist. It’s just splitting hairs to call her a “authoritarian libertarian” which is just a mild and obscure term that glosses over her actions in the last two years. Her aims go far beyond just Albertans. She is showing just how much she can get away with because there are no consequence for committing treason and ignoring the law. She has no good intentions for Canada.
I would be more inclined to look at it from a trend perspective. When she was first recruited into politics, she was viewed as fiscally conservative and socially liberal. Today, latter has completely flipped. If she is trending toward fascism, that is likely who she is, it's just not fully evident yet.
I don’t think Smith and her hoard have thought things out, other than a desire to hold on to office as such. She is a glib and slick communicator who can make the objectionable seem acceptable. Her knowledge of public policy formulation and economics seems at best shallow, based on her papers. The result is a need to resort to non-democratic methods to achieve ends less than desirable for the public.
Right from the start, I felt it was equally inane for the partisans on either side to be using terms like fascist or communist.
Nonetheless , the UCP would have to look far & long for someone like her. She will do & say just about anything and not necessarily for the common good.

She certainly finds the Legislature inconvenient and defies the courts. She also wants her own police force!?? Just saying. She’s identified the enemy- transgendered people, labour unions, liberals. She’s aligned herself with big business and her own set of cronies. Now immigrants. I think if she were to get another term we would see her take the full plunge.

I believe Smith ticks all the fascist boxes. Her use of the "not withstanding clause" is used as aggression against the rights of people.
